The heaviest floods that Spain has experienced in recent history have left, to this day, 222 dead and four missing in Valencia (plus the nine in Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia). They affected about a million people who live or have lived in 87 municipalities and have caused total damage worth 21,819 million euros, according to estimates from the Valencia Chamber of Commerce. The economic fabric was seriously damaged, with 57 industrial zones completely destroyed, almost 12,000 businesses damaged and a total of 13,314 million euros in damage. All this represents 34% of the GDP of the province of Valencia.
