Valladolid covers the Virgin of San Lorenzo in the last moments of the Fairs

Thousands of people gathered in the city centre of Valladolid to protect the Virgin of San Lorenzo during its traditional parade, which on this occasion coincides with the last day of the festivities in honor of its patron saint, which will end to the rhythm of Raphael and in the light of the last fireworks of the mascleta night.

The historic center was thus dressed in the popular carpet in honor of the boss and a delegation headed by local, ecclesiastical and military authorities. Among them, the mayor, Jesús Julio Carnero, who took the opportunity to ask the Virgin of Saint Lawrence “stability” for the country.

A few moments before the start of the traditional procession, Ram He congratulated all the people of Valladolid on the occasion of this patron saint’s festival, specifically asking for “opportunities” so that young people “can stay in the city” and carry out their “life project”. “May anyone who has a job and wants to improve it be able to improve it, and may anyone who does not have a job be able to find it,” the mayor affirmed for the people of Valladolid, reports Ep.

Likewise, he demanded for Spain “the stability that it has known for so many years, both from a political and institutional point of view”, and hoped “prosperity and economic development and social for all parts of the world where it is lacking.”

For his part, the Archbishop of Valladolid, Luis Argüelloasked the Virgin of San Lorenzo to “intercede” to “revive the celebration of Sunday”, a day that is culturally experienced as “a holiday without great significance” but which “offers a sphere of communion in pain and celebration” to address differences and commit to the common good.
