The VASS emphasized that “diplomatic efforts are currently striving to take the positions announced between Moscow and Kiev, and that the first step to the cessation of war is to receive peaceful offers on both sides,” noting that the United States intend to actively work for the beginning of direct negotiations.
Earlier this week, the Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov said that the signal of the signature for direct negotiations should be issued by Kiev, but Moscow has not yet seen any specific measures.
The Kremlin also announced that President Vladimir Putin confirmed during his meeting with the US Special Envoy President Steve Wittuf’s readiness of the Russian side negotiations with Ukraine without preliminary conditions.
US President Donald Trump previously stated that, in his opinion, Russia is ready to conclude an agreement on resolving the conflict, but he has not yet been able to achieve understanding with Kiev.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Moscow continues to maintain contacts based on trust with Washington, and believes that the American side listens to it in a number of important issues, while it is impossible to deny the lack of seriousness that Kyiv demonstrates in negotiations.
