Velázquez proposes the photographer Renata Takkenberg as Toledo’s adopted daughter

The mayor of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez, presented this Thursday the book “Pasos por Toledo”, by the photographer Renata Takkenberg. A work of 400 pages, edited by Antonio Pareja, which includes a collection of photographs of the city taken in the 90s by this German photographer based in Toledo. During the presentation, which took place in the Chapter House, the mayor announced that he will propose to Renata Takkenberg as Adopted Daughter of the City, in view of the celebration of the Feast of San Ildefonso, patron saint of the city, on January 23.

Velázquez praised Renata’s talent captured in these “color photographs,” of a person who fell in love with Toledo in the 80s and “who gave her life to the city,” he stressed.

For his part,Renata Takkenberg She was very grateful to the city that welcomed her and to the people of Toledo who opened the doors of their homes to her and allowed her to photograph their terraces. “For me, Toledo is the most beautiful place and I am very happy here,” the photographer confessed.

His son also participated in the presentation Fredericwho gave an insight into the life of his mother, “an adventurer to whom the Toledo people opened their hearts.” Likewise, the book’s publisherAntonio Parejahighlighted the penetrating gaze of his photographs, which managed to accurately capture the heritage and life of the city.

The event ended with the presentation of a bouquet of flowers and warm applause for Renata.
