Venezuelan Assembly rejects recognition of Edmundo González by “fascist” European Parliament

THE National Assembly of Venezuela (AN), controlled by the chavismorepudiated on Thursday the decision of the European Parliament to recognize the candidate of the opposition coalition, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, as president-elect in the July 28 elections, the official result of which gave victory to President Nicolas Maduro.

During a session, broadcast on the national channel VTV, The AN repudiated “the “illegitimate practice of the European Parliament of recognising fictitious and illusory governments” and insisted that “The decision of the Venezuelan people” is respected who “elected” Maduro, a result that has been questioned inside and outside the country.

Likewise, he urged “Fascist MEPs” abandon “failed neocolonialist strategy” of “regime change” in Venezuela, and asked that they focus on “the serious human rights violations occurring within their borders.”

For her part, the MP Blanca Eekhoutwho presented the agreement, said that ““Fascism seeks to ignore the sovereign will of the Venezuelan people.”in reference to the official result of the elections, accused of fraud by the largest opposition coalition, the Democratic United Platform (PUD), which supports González Urrutia.

The anti-Chavista bloc insists that its standard-bearer is the president-elect and has supported this victory with the “83.5%” of electoral fileswhich were published on a website and then described as false by the government and the prosecution.

Following the recognition of the European Parliament, Edmundo Gonzalezexiled in Madrid since September 8, asked Brussels to act to ensure that in Venezuela “sovereignty is affirmed expressed at the polls.”

The European Parliament resolution, which is not binding and was approved by 309 votes in favor, 201 against and 12 abstentions, also recognizes González Urrutia’s main supporter, Maria Corina Machado, leader of the democratic forces in Venezuela.

Maduro was proclaimed president by the National Electoral Council (CNE) which, despite the insistence of a large part of the international community, still does not publish the results disaggregated by voting center and table by table as established by its own regulations.
