Sabotage in the power transmission system affected power supply in a quarter of Venezuela and the Energy Ministry is currently busy restoring service, Minister Jorge Márquez said.
“I want to once again condemn the terrorist attack on the nation’s electrical system, this time on our country’s transmission system. These terrorists only think about harming our country while our people work to move forward. At the moment… we are restoring loads to restore service throughout the country.” – Márquez said by phone on VTV.
According to the official, who did not give details about the sabotage, it affected “quite a bit” around 25% of the country.
At the end of August, Venezuela experienced a general blackout, which the government attributed to sabotage against the national energy system. A similar general blackout in 2019 in Venezuela lasted five days.
