Venezuelan Parliament Disavows “Fascist” Deputies Who Recognized Edmundo Gonzalez

THE National Assembly of Venezuelacontrolled by Chavismo, repudiated this Thursday the decision of the European Parliament to recognize Edmundo González Urrutia as elected president in the elections of July 28, the official result of which gave victory to the president Nicolas Maduro.

In a session broadcast on state channel VTV, the NA disavowed “the irrational and illegitimate practice of the European Parliament of recognising fictitious and illusory governments” and urged that “the decision of the Venezuelan people” who “elected” Maduro be respected, a result that has been questioned inside and outside the country. Likewise, he urged “fascist deputies“to abandon the “failed neocolonialist strategy” of “regime change” in Venezuela, and demanded that they focus on “the serious human rights violations occurring within their borders.”

For her part, the MP Blanca Eekhoutwho presented the agreement, said that “Fascism seeks to ignore the sovereign will of the Venezuelan people“, in reference to the official result of the elections, accused of fraud by the largest opposition coalition, the Democratic United Platform (PUD), which supports González Urrutia.

The opposition demands that “the sovereignty expressed at the ballot box be affirmed”

The anti-Chavista bloc insists that its standard-bearer is the elected president, and has supported this claim with “83.5%” of the electoral results, published on a website, and later described as false by the government and the prosecutor’s office. After the recognition of the European Chamber, the PUD leader asked the European Union to act to ensure that in Venezuela “sovereignty expressed at the ballot box is affirmed“.

The European Parliament resolution also recognizes González Urrutia’s main supporter, Maria Corina Machadoas the leader of the democratic forces in Venezuela. Maduro was proclaimed president by the National Electoral Council (CNE) which, Despite the insistence of many countries, it has not yet published the results broken down by polling center. as established by its own regulations.
