Vicente Fernández brings his paintings under construction to the Caja Rural Foundation in Córdoba

An exhibition is almost always carried out with finished works, pieces which left the studio with a more or less long work process, but which the author considers finished. Some of the works forming part of the exhibition ‘The Three Lights’, which the painter Vicente Raúl Fernández Román inaugurated this Wednesday at the José Luis García Palacios Cultural Center, of the Caja Rural del Sur Foundation, they are not.

Its author has works in constant creation, and he admits this when speaking about the exhibition. So much so that they even show without framelike works still in progress, but which serve to tell the story of the painter’s work.

Vicente Raúl Fernández Román was born in Calatrava Argamasilla (Ciudad Real), but his professional career has developed in Córdoba since the mid-90s, with collective and individual exhibitions. Since that time, thirty years ago, some of the works of “The Three Lights”which shows city landscapes. Some are known and others almost claimed, like the tiled benches in agricultural gardens.

Evolution

“I understand each work as a living being that evolves and which must constantly be taken care of, adding or removing what improves or weakens it. A garden that must be watered and cleared of weeds, that evolves throughout its history”, says Vicente Raúl Fernández Román, who insists that he cares so much about net profit how to enjoy the process of production.

The exhibit includes bougainvillea on architecture, theater interiors, outside of Cordoba, as well as views of doors and rocking chairs in patios. A certain abounds geometry in the compositions, sometimes presented in various ways.
