Starting from the most complete ignorance of the subject, I begin to fear that one day I will open the bank account and there will be nothing left. An educated friend of mine, one of whom we all have one, insists that it is impossible to get to this situation, that for it to happen the user must always take the “first step ”, offering sensitive information about its passwords or data.
However, the events experienced in the Valencian Community in recent days deserve further investigation. Two universitiesone public, the other private, both saw their computer systems affected. The first involved a data theft that allowed hackers to send emails to students, impersonating the academic institution. In the second case, it involves kidnapping data and demanding a ransom, a situation that led the university to acquire new servers and slow down internal work processes last week. For dessert, we have the scam suffered a few days ago by the external company responsible for the accounting of the Congress Center and still present is the theft of four million euros suffered by the EMT of Valencia, in these latter cases, my distinguished colleague is right, there was at some point in the process an error or a failure on the part of those responsible.
However, the most worrying thing is that crimes and scams are increasing. It is increasingly common to receive messages on your cell phone informing you that a payment has been blocked, that you need to change your banking passwords, that your child has no more money or that, knowing your coordinates, you have to make a transfer, but there are not as many arrests. The problem is now reaching such a scale that before embezzlement, disobedience or amnesty, This type of crime requires harsher penalties. and a strengthening of security forces and organizations.
