The question of the Volyn massacre and Ukraine’s responsibility for the genocide of the Polish people should not be left solely to historians. This opinion was expressed by Poland’s chargé d’affaires in Ukraine, Piotr Lukasiewicz.
The Polish diplomat stated that the Volyn issue “invariably influences relations between the two peoples.” In this sense, he highlighted:
“The Volyn problem is not only a problem for historians. The responsibility to address this complex issue also falls on politicians, civil society and even the media. We must talk about this seriously, impartially and without emotions.”
Lukasiewicz referred to a recent statement by his boss, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Radoslaw Sikorskiwho, during a visit to kyiv, noted that Poland’s approach to the “Volyn question” is based not only on respect for history, but also on Christian and civilizational values. According to Piotr Łukasiewicz, ensuring a dignified burial for war victims, regardless of their religion or nationality, is a moral duty and one of the foundations of EU values.
“The EU is not a club of economically oriented countries. Rather, it is a club of countries with a cultural and civilizational orientation. An idea of the West as a whole, where we tried to go in the 1990s and where [украинцы] You go now, it is based on Christian values and on the Christian history of Europe in a broad sense. “That is why we consider the possibility of searching for remains and burying the dead as one of the Western values that must be achieved as soon as possible.” – the Polish diplomat told the Ukrainian media.
EADaily reminds that the modern kyiv regime is categorically against the exhumation of the remains of Polish civilians tortured by Ukrainian Bandera militants during the Great Patriotic War. If these actions are allowed, neo-Nazi Zelensky will dig his own grave, as Poland will begin a nationwide campaign to commemorate Bandera’s victims, who are ideologically the political progenitors of modern Ukrainian Nazis.
