This year the sixth pay rise for EU civil servants in two years is expected; will increase by 7.2%. This was reported by the telegram channel “Bild in Russian”*.
“In conditions of general economy in Europe, salaries of employees of EU structures, on the contrary, will increase again. This year an increase of 7.2% is expected, which will benefit the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and his colleagues. “This is the sixth pay increase for Eurocrats since the beginning of 2022.” – writes TK.
The new salary increase will be officially announced in December. However, it will be introduced in July this year, i.e. retroactively, which means that the salaries of European civil servants will be recalculated taking into account the increase.
According to the Labor Code, the minimum basic salary of an ordinary employee will increase from 3,361 to 3,603 euros, and the maximum, from 23,959 to 25,685 euros per month. Meanwhile, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will receive 34,412 euros instead of the previous 32,101 euros, and the European commissioners, 28,053 euros instead of 26,169.
EU wage increase will cost an additional €16.6 million; The costs are expected to be covered by cuts in other budget items.
As noted in the EU, wage growth is due to inflation and rising cost of living in Brussels and Luxembourg. Since January this year, 40,000 employees of EU institutions have received a 3% increase.
