Vox calls for the self-employed to be exempt from taxes when the Treasury owes them money and not to pay fees if they do not reach the SMI

Vox presented to Congress an initiative which asks, on the one hand, to exempt self-employed workers from taxes when the Treasury has unpaid debts with them and, on the other hand, to free them from the monthly fee that ‘they have to pay. pay into the Special Scheme for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) when their real income does not reach the minimum wage.

The party’s general secretary in the Lower House, José María Figaredo, presented for the second time the initiative included in a non-legislative proposal. Concretely, the objective is to allow that in the event of reimbursement of VAT by the Tax Administration, the payment of another subsequent settlement may be deferred without any interest until the time of actual receipt of the funds.

Figaredo explained that every three months, self-employed people must pay VAT on the activities they have carried out. On several occasions, the MP emphasized, these payments must be made while the tax administration still owes them money for previous declarations.

What we are asking is that the self-employed do not have to pay a cent to the Treasury until the Treasury has settled all their debts with them.“, commented Figaredo in the congressional press room.

Six months to pay the rent

Likewise, Vox proposes to extend to six months the period available to the taxpayer to make payment to the Treasury after filing the income tax or VAT declaration. That’s to say, equalize the taxpayer’s payment deadline with the reimbursement deadline available to the Treasurywhich is equivalent to six months without interest.

This non-legal proposal includes another measure aimed at subsidizing 100% of the RETA quota to self-employed workers whose real income does not reach the SMI.

Santiago Abascal’s training explains that of the three million self-employed workers in Spain, two million earn below the minimum wage, and of these, around 1.45 million self-employed workers obtain an income of less than 700 euros per month.

Figaredo indicated that with this proposal, self-employed workers with lower incomes would have a “cushion” of almost 300 euros per month and would allow economic activities to “emerge” that currently do not charge more than the SMI.

Simplify personal income tax

Alongside this initiative, Figaredo also once again presented another non-legal proposal aimed at simplifying the personal income tax into two sections and exempting incomes below 22,000 euros from paying this tax.

More precisely, Vox offers a type of 15% on tax bases below 70,000 euros and an additional 25% to be applied to higher incomes at this figure.

Added to this is a reduction of four points per child in the tax rate, so that a family of four children will not pay income tax if their income is less than 70,000 euros and will not pay any than 9% if his income is higher.

The exemption from the RETA tax and the simplification of the sections of the IRPF would result in a loss of revenue for the State of around 26.250 million euros which Vox wants to compensate with fewer subsidies to public entities, unions or organizations employers.

“These two initiatives (…) could be easily covered if we reduced all these superfluous expenditures of the public administration,” said Figaredo, who concluded his intervention by assuring that in Spain “there are many ways to waste the money that all Spaniards contribute to paying and what is missing are real initiatives in favor, in this case, of families and self-employed workers”.
