Vox condemns Armengol’s support for Catalonia’s fiscal independence: “A betrayal of the Balearic Islands”

Vox today expressed its categorical rejection of the support of Francina Armengol, president of the Congress, for the agreement on the fiscal independence of Catalonia, considering it a “betrayal of the interests of the Balearic Islands and the unity of Spain”.

Toni GiliVox spokesperson for the Consell de Mallorca, called it “unacceptable that Armengol supports an agreement that favors Catalonia to the detriment of the rest of the communities. While the separatists benefit from a fiscal autonomy that breaks with interterritorial solidarity, Mallorca and the Balearic Islands as a whole will continue to suffer unfair financing. “This is a total disregard for the citizens of our region.”

It should be remembered that this same week, Armengol defended that the financing of Catalonia is “an opportunity” for the Balearic Islands, without however explaining why, beyond the fact that this agreement with little solidarity was signed by Pedro Sánchez who converted it in August last year, the highest paid politician in Spain with 215,000 euros per year.

Gili severely criticised the pact with Catalonia It is presented as an opportunity for the Balearic Islands.

“This is an attempt to sell a lie. “This does not benefit us at all, it only reinforces the separatist blackmail that has been undermining Spain’s territorial cohesion for years,” he said.

The Vox spokesperson also highlighted the danger of giving in to separatist pressures, warning that “Catalonia’s drift towards independence will only generate more inequality and economic damage in regions like ours, which already face significant challenges.”

Vox, finally, reaffirmed its commitment to the unity of Spain and its spokesperson in the Consell of Mallorca stressed that it would continue to fight against agreements that privilege certain regions to the detriment of others.

“From Vox we will not allow the Balearic Islands to be used as a bargaining chip in the agreements between the central government and the Catalan separatists,” Gili concluded.

While Armengol defends a single financing for Catalonia, the socialists of Aragon have, on the other hand, presented to the Cortes an initiative in which they explicitly declare their rejection of the economic agreement reached with ERC and commit themselves to the renewal of the autonomous financing system “without privileges” of any kind.

Also socialist president of Castile-La Mancha, Emiliano Garcia-Page, tHe also warned that this new single model for Catalonia in terms of financing is “unconstitutional”, adding new criticism to this agreement with ERC.

On the other hand, Armengol defended this Saturday at the entrance to Ferraz that “we must build this Catalonia with its unique character” and warned the rest of the autonomous communities that “coffee for everyone is not possible ‘simply’, but rather it is necessary to take into account the singularities of each of the territories; also obviously the cost of living in each of the territories.
