Vox denounces Sánchez’s collaboration to force Edmundo González’s departure from Venezuela

Vox MEP, Herman Tertschdenounced in a tweet that the “dictatorship” of Nicolás Maduro, with the active collaboration of the government of Pedro Sánchez, orchestrated a campaign of “terror” to force the departure from the country of the leader of the Venezuelan opposition Edmundo González, whom Vox considers the legitimate elected president of Venezuela.

Tertsch stressed that “brutal situation” who lived in the Argentine embassy in Caracas, where González had taken refuge, was the “result of a joint plan between Venezuela and Spain to prevent the recognition of the elections and consolidate Maduro’s power.” “It was necessary to create a horror atmosphere…so that it is not the usurper and murderous dictator who goes into exile, but the winner of the elections, Edmundo González Urrutia,” reads Tertsch’s tweet, which the leader of the party also shared on his networks, Santiago Abascal.

Vox accuses the Spanish government of being a direct accomplice in this process. The party considers that both Pedro Sánchez and former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero acted in favor of Maduro to destabilize the real Venezuelan opposition. According to Vox, this episode is another example of the proximity between the two governments and the hidden interests they share.

Tertsch also warned that this maneuver aims not only to decapitate the Venezuelan opposition, but also to impose the resignation and permanence of authoritarian regimes in Venezuela and Spain. “It is about breaking all illusions and imposing resignation… Maduro like Sánchez, they will continue no matter what,” the MEP said.

Vox called for a firm response from the international community and reiterated its rejection of the policies of the Sánchez government, which it accuses of undermining freedom and democracy in Latin America in collusion with “dictatorial governments” like Maduro’s.

He also stressed Joseph BorrellHigh Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Ursula von LeyenPresident of the European Commission, as “accomplices” who intend to decapitate the Venezuelan people “of their leaders in hope.”
