The former Director General of Justice of the Government of Aragon, Esmeralda Pastor, is Vox’s latest recruit in the Balearic Islands. She was fired last September after the departure of Santiago Abascal from the Aragonese executive.and now joins the parliamentary group as an advisor and interim agent.

Her time in the government of Aragon, for about a year, was not without controversy since she was accused by the opposition of making an “apology for Francoism” on her social networks. It all arose from the publication of a photograph on his Facebook profile with a pre-constitutional flag. and, since then, left-wing groups have repeatedly called for his resignation.

Upon learning of this appointment, the opposition in the Balearic Parliament also raised its voice. The deputy of Més per Mallorca, Marta Carrió, publicly denounced this appointment through the social network (formerly Twitter): “Hiring known and recognized Francoists with public money should not be possible. With Vox in Parliament, the Francoist drift continues, without complexes, from the main institution of our country,” he writes.

Before joining the Government of Aragon, Pastor was legal advisor to the Vox group at Zaragoza City Hall and local coordinator for María de Huerva during the last legislature.. Her remuneration as Director General of Justice amounts to 74,083 euros gross per year. Now he will receive 22,246 euros with a full-time commitment to the Balearic Parliament.
