Vox’s number one in the Consell of Mallorca, Pedro Bestard, announced this Friday that he was leaving his position as a member of the Vox management in the Balearic Islands but will maintain its institutional positions in the government of the island where those of Santiago Abascal govern in coalition with the PP and will also continue as councilor for citizen security in the city hall of Marratxí.
Bestard’s departure from the party’s regional leadership comes just 21 days after the party’s deputy in the Balearic Parliament, Agustín Buades, left the parliamentary group and remained a non-attached deputy.
Buades was part of the group of five deputies who promoted the expulsion of Le Senne from the Vox parliamentary group last February, as well as the deputy Patricia de las Heras, a situation that opened a crisis within the party.
In the case of Bestard, his departure from the regional leadership would also be due to his strained relations with the president of the Balearic Islands party and deputy in the Balearic Chamber, Patricia de Las Heras. Bestard was also in favour of the islands party having greater capacity for manoeuvre and decision-making before the leadership of Bambú Street in Madrid, the headquarters of Vox.
