THE National Police arrests, in Carabias (Segovia), the man suspected of murder his father-in-law last Thursday with a knife in Aranda de Duero (Burgos)a crime behind which lies a case of gender-based violence.

The arrest, which was carried out by agents of the Judicial Police and Citizen Security Brigade of the Aranda de Duero police station, This happened in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Segovia. According to the Government Subdelegation, the individual showed resistance and tried to avoid his arrest, without success, crash into several police cars with the vehicle in which he fled the scene of the crime. An act which caused minor injuries to three of the agents.

The homicide with which he is accused took place last Thursday afternoon, when the 72-year-old man approached the apartment shared by the couple. There he met the man who was his father-in-law and they a strong argument that ended with the murder of the old man.

As explained by the government subdelegate in Burgos, Pedro de la Fuente, the daughter of the deceased victim and companion of the detainee presented herself to the national police moments before the crime to file a complaint requesting protection. The woman, her daughter and the grandmother, the wife of the murdered man, were transferred to a shelter.

Apparently, the attacker, with whom the woman had been in a relationship since they were young – they also had a daughter in common – began to have drug problems this summer, which “he could not control” and which led him to play in several “problematic” episodes.

The main hypothesis put forward by the agents is that the father-in-law of the arrested person, aged around 70, went to the home where his son-in-law lived, who killed him with a knife. These same sources explained that the agents, alerted by the girl herself, went to the scene and requested medical assistance for the man. A medical team and an ambulance were sent to the scene.
