A group of scientists from the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson, Arizona, USA, and other American research centers have determined that there are traces of water at all latitudes of the Moon, including areas illuminated by the Sun.
Oku.Az “The Planetary Science Journal” reported on this.
By analyzing mineralogical maps of Earth’s natural satellite, obtained using the Moon Mineralogy Mapper instrument on the Indian spacecraft Chandrayaan-1, the team of authors concluded that “water and hydroxyl-rich rocks” are found throughout the surface of the Moon.
Previously, Chinese scientists assumed that sufficient water resources existed only at the lunar poles, where the sun’s rays fell less.
