“We are from Bedansk” – 2.5 million Poles live in extreme poverty

In Poland, a “Poverty Report” was published, which shocked the citizens of this Eastern European republic.

Almost 2.5 million Poles live in extreme poverty, more than half a million of them are children and around 400,000 are elderly.

“The situation in our country has not been so bad since 2015,” writes the Polish portal Onet. — Almost half of Poles live on the threshold of the social minimum. Extreme child poverty increased by 32%. “Almost one in ten Poles eats less than three times a day, and a quarter of Poles say this happens at least once a week.”

To illustrate the magnitude of the problem, the authors came up with the fictional city of Bedansk (a play on words: from bieda – poverty and Gdańsk – Gdansk. – EADaily).

“The stories of its inhabitants are devastatingly true,” – Onet Notes.
