“We are not psychics. Don’t trust what the gurus tell you.”

The president of the Center for Sociological Research (CIS), José Félix Tezanos, appeared before the Constitutional Commission of the Congress, at the request of the Popular Partyto provide explanations for their forecasts. Tezanos said that “We are not fortune tellers, nor do we pretend to be. “I do not wish to disrespect the wise soothsayers that there may be in this country, or in any party.”

On the question of whether he falsifies predictions about election results, he said: “Am I falsifying the data, am I changing the data? No, what’s happening? “They don’t win elections with enough votes to govern.” And he encouraged parties critical of the IEC’s actions to “study”: “Do not trust what the gurus tell you, because I insist, the data that you have manipulated They made a multitude of mistakes.”

Furthermore, Tezanos argued that “at present, the IEC is one of the best public opinion institutes that exists in the world” and stressed that “discredit does not reach public opinion.” He also ruled out the possibility of carrying out an investigation to know the position of citizens: “I think it would be a bit absurd for the IEC to conduct an investigation into itself, asking public opinion whether it is discredited.”
