“We don’t know what Hamas is prepared to do,” said US Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew as he discussed complex negotiations over a possible ceasefire at a security conference.
This was reported by The Times of Israel.
He noted that the process is moving forward with the mediation of the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Israel itself. According to him, the main goal of the negotiators is to bring the positions of the parties as close as possible to force the Hamas terrorists to make key decisions.
Lew also mentioned that the Israeli government has shown a willingness to show some flexibility on a number of issues, although no specific details were announced. However, the ambassador stressed that this process remains extremely difficult and unpredictable, as the willingness of Hamas terrorists to make concessions is still not entirely clear.
Earlier, Kursor reported that Qatari media outlets reported pressure on Netanyahu in connection with negotiations with Hamas.
