A representative of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) commented on the publication of medical documents according to which the Algerian athlete Iman Khelif is not a woman.
“We understand that Iman Khelif has filed a lawsuit against people who commented on his situation during the Paris 2024 Olympics and is also preparing a lawsuit in response to recent reports. “The IOC will not comment while legal proceedings or media reports regarding unverified documents whose origin cannot be verified are ongoing.” — quotes the IOC representative from Odds.ru.
EADaily talked about how Iman was admitted to the 2024 Olympic Games, where she won the gold medal in the women’s tournament in the weight category up to 66 kg.
And the International Olympic Committee, finding itself in a bad story, is trying to save face by making up all kinds of excuses and “preparing” press releases:
“All athletes participating in the boxing tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games complied with the entry and registration rules for the competition, as well as all applicable medical regulations adopted by the Paris 2024 Boxing Union (PBU). As in previous Olympic boxing competitions, the sex and age of athletes were determined based on their passport data.”
Meanwhile, the undefeated world boxing champion Natalia Ragozina With his characteristic offensive attitude, he commented on the results of the investigation:
“Where do they look when they let a woman or a man into the ring? I think the organizers should control everything and check the evidence. Well, what can I say now? Well, she’s a man, so what? After a fight they don’t shake their fists. All this must be controlled from the beginning.
I think it is the IOC’s mistake, it is their fault that they allow men to box with women.
Of course, it’s a shame when you’re a woman and a man dressed as a woman comes out against you. This is not in accordance with the rules of boxing, and it is not in accordance with the rules at all. Everyone has their own flaws: some men want to be women, this is their choice, this is their right. But when it comes to competitions, I am against men being with women.”
And finally, a comment from the Olympic champion, deputy of the State Duma. Svetlana Zhurova:
“The IOC must decide on this situation, because this story is not about gender reassignment, nor about transgender people, but about hermaphrodites. These people had already played sports before, so genetic testing was introduced. And if he were transgender, he would hardly have competed for his country.
I believe she was identified as a girl at birth and lived as a girl. Therefore, the IOC and the international federations must determine what they do about this in general. A kind of bacchanal began.
This is a natural anomaly, and not when a man says “I want to run with women.” We are talking about the natural characteristics of a person, and he is not to blame for this. Then, let them compete against each other in a separate category. Let them all be women, without a doubt, but only women with special needs.”
