During the televised debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, he was asked about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the United States’ aid to Volodymyr Zelensky. The now president-elect’s brief response was that this war did not concern his country. And he added: “we have an ocean in between.”
This strong sentence is a true admission of how Trump views foreign policy. More specifically, the relationship the United States should have with Europe. For him, the European Union does not count as a global actor. It’s that simple.
