“We hear the word Christmas less and less; “Let’s not let them censor it.”

An eminently Christian message is the one read this Friday by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, on the occasion of the opening of Christmas in the Community of Madrid. He did it behind the immense nativity scene that, like every year for 22 years, the Association of Nativity Creators of Madrid has created, and which this year reproduces a typical Arab village and collects the mystery on an island. The head of the Regional Executive called for defending Christmas and asked: “Let’s not let them censor it.” At the same time, he recalled that “Jesus always called for the law to be fulfilled and to be the same for all.”

Ayuso recalled that “there is nothing more recent than Christmas”, and in his speech he also made several references to Pope John Paul II, among which his requests to Christians not to be afraid, even in situations, like the current ones, war tensions. .and the nuclear threat.

The president assured that “in our world, whether you have faith or not, we believe in second chances, in harmony”, as “we, the Spaniards, did during the Transition”. He warned that “the years are no longer numbered since the birth of Christ. Or rather, it has been told since his birth, but Christ is omitted, we act as if he did not exist, with a double betrayal of History and of what we are, of the past and of new generations. “They are stealing the heritage of Christianity.”

The same thing happens with Christmas, according to him “the word Christmas is less and less read and heard, we call it less and less by its name. “Let’s not let them censor it, take it away from us”, asked the Madrid politician And he also recalled that “the hatred of Christianity within the Christian world is accompanied by contempt for man.”

After discussing the problem of the birth rate, he stressed that “we are lacking children and that childhood is getting shorter and shorter; “They erase it,” Ayuso emphasized, speaking of the Royal Post Office crèche, which, like every year, will be seen by tens of thousands of people during these holidays. “It is – he described – a tribute to the Christians of the Arab world.”

The assembly, once again coming from the expert hands of the Madrid Association of Crèche Creators, occupies an area of 145 square meters, and to make it, 1,200 kilos of cork, 1,000 kilos of sand and stones and A huge exercise in patience was necessary to carry out this entirely artisanal work.

Eugenio Barandalla, its president, explained the characteristics of this great mystery, number 22 that they installed in the Royal Post Office, which has a souk with lively streets, shops and everything that accompanies a desert city, irrigated by a river that refreshes him. On the other side, the nomadic peoples have set up camp in the desert, and are resting in their tents, conveniently equipped with all the elements that accompany them, including lighting.

In addition, there is an island surrounded by water where the biblical scene of the Child Jesus appears with the Virgin and Saint Joseph, the ox and the mule and the presence of the three wise men with their pages; Not far from there, you can see the annunciation to the angels. In total, 9 scenes, 480 characters by authors of the stature of José Luis Mayo, the Castels brothers or Olot.
