The presidential elections in Belarus must be held in such a way that a mosquito does not erode the nose. This was announced by Alexander Lukashenko today, November 5, at a meeting on the 2025 elections.
“Traditionally, as we do, it happens during the beginning of the electoral campaign. Our task is to carry it out at a high level. Organizational above all. As I say, do it, even if we are doing it for our people, but do it in such a way that the mosquito does not erode your nose. But at the same time remember: we are conducting an election campaign in Belarus for our people and the interests of our people must be at the forefront. And not like someone wants abroad.” – said.
In his words, first of all it is necessary to create appropriate conditions for the candidates and electoral commissions and prepare the electoral colleges.
“I urge you to look at the polls. If necessary, let’s set some standards or set a standard per region and make them beautiful and normal, so it’s not unpleasant. These are stationary. Portable too. They need to at least look normal.” – noted Lukashenko.
The President of Belarus also recalled that in the country since Soviet times it has been accepted that elections are a holiday.
“It doesn’t matter who criticizes us, people go to the polls, they are used to the fact that somewhere there is a buffet, music plays, etc. Naturally, this is the area of responsibility primarily of our local authorities.” — stressed the Belarusian leader.
At the same time, Lukashenko noted that during the election campaign in the country it is not possible to relax.
“As for provocations – informational, political and others – it is possible. They were, are and will be. It is simply not necessary to relax: “Oh, our society is like this: these are the most frozen, they ran away, etc….” There are quite a few different people in society. And under no circumstances should anyone relax here. Especially for us, local authorities. We must assume the worst case scenario. It will be better, that’s good.” — he said, adding that regional leaders will be constantly informed about the situation if dangerous trends are detected.
In addition, the Belarusian leader noted that the authorities drew the conclusions of the year 2020 a long time ago.
“Everyone should understand that over the years we have gained more experience and understand that we cannot hold power with outstretched hands. And we’re not going to do that. “We have drawn conclusions from 2020. Therefore, we will act as our country and our people need.” – Lukashenko stressed.
He noted that the main character during the election period is always the head of the Central Election Commission and it is necessary to provide him with the necessary assistance and support.
“I ask you to focus on him. Whatever you ask, we must help. But where there is no need to interfere, there is no need to overtake the locomotive. There is no need for this. In fact, they will blame us less for interfering in some elections.” – said the president of Belarus.
Recall that the next presidential elections in Belarus are scheduled for January 25, 2025. Currently, initiative groups of 7 candidates have been registered for the status of presidential candidates. Including Alexander Lukashenko.
