The neighbors of Barcelona Eixample They can’t take it anymore. They say it is a constant nightmare to live on their street, one of the steepest in the neighborhood, and through which two tourist bus lines pass as well as three other regular lines. This causes a tourist bus to pass every two minutes. A daily scene that they have endured, according to reports, for years.
This situation are the neighbors tired. They complain about the noise, pollution and the increase in accidents that this causes.
A team from LaSexta went to the site to understand the problem. Between the Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell, there are steep streets and this makes regular buses very necessary for neighborhood residentsbut when they arrive at the stops, they find that their buses are saturated with tourists.
To these buses are added specifically tourist buses, VTCs, taxis and other private ones which disembark passengers. A situation which caused a increased noise and pollution in the region, as well as insecurity for pedestrians and vehicles, because accidents have increased.
“I’m fed up with so many buses passing through here.“. says one of the neighbors affected by this situation, who denounces the fact that up to three buses pass at the same time. Added to this is that “several days they break down and tourists have to get off” and overwhelm the buses that neighbors use to travel up the slope of these steep streets.
This caused massification on buses, as local residents denounce. “Sometimes we can’t get on the bus because it’s packed.“said another of the victims who asked for solutions as quickly as possible to this problem which affects the neighborhood.
