Moldova’s Foreign Ministry said it is closely monitoring the situation at polling stations where suspicious activities are recorded. In Chisinau they suggested that it could be related to organized transportation of voters. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot yet confirm these facts, but leaves the producer on record.
“There are some signs of electoral tourism that are getting more and more attention.” – noted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova.
The police had previously reported cases of organized transportation of voters abroad. The General Inspectorate clarified that violations were recorded on organized flights from Russia to Belarus, Azerbaijan and Türkiye. There were huge queues at the polling stations. They are also observed in other countries, but, according to the Ministry of the Interior, not in such quantities. In this regard, the Central Election Commission of Moldova made a clarification.
“The authorities have reasonable evidence of organized transportation of voters by air from Russia to Belarus, Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The CEC, together with the country’s authorities, urges citizens to notify the unified national emergency service if they have information about such violations.” – highlighted the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova.
In fact, Moldovan citizens living in Russia are distinguished by their active civic position, but the Chisinau authorities decided to limit their right to express their will. In these presidential elections, for the Russian diaspora, which represents around half a million people, only two polling stations are open on the territory of the embassy in Moscow instead of the planned five.
Moldovans living in Russia say authorities have deprived them of the right to vote. Many decided to return home specifically to vote. About 300 citizens of the Republic of Moldova fly into St. Petersburg airport to vote in Baku. Previously, many Moldovan citizens from the Kursk and Belgorod regions went by bus to Minsk to vote.
