“By buying a bottle of oil, we quickly transform it into bottles, and they arrive hot in the belly of a child who needs them.” With this sentence, the vice-president of the Association for the Defense of Life, Adevida, Anabel Mialdea, sums up the spirit of Christmas bargainwhich opened its doors this Wednesday at the Oratory of San Felipe Neri.
This is one of the appointments with which this organization dedicated to the care of women pregnant in economic difficulty and everything the child needs in the first months of his life is financed so that he can continue to work.
Anabel Mialdea explained that throughout this year, Adevida has helped a total of 575 peoplewho are part of around 150 families. From there, around 170 are children under the age of one, who constitute the specific target of Adevida’s actions.
The figure of 575 is similar to recent years and they are increasingly in demand. This is why the vice president insisted that they needed “the help of Cordoba and the generosity of the whole world. The mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, praised their work during the inauguration, which culminated with the priest’s blessing. José Juan Jiménez Güeto.
The association takes care of the mother from pregnancy, with all the help she may need, and at birth it has already prepared everything for the baby’s needs: basket, cradle and a stroller and new clothes.
Food and diapers
Additionally, they cover food and diapers for children during the first year of life, in addition to all the items the newborn needs. “When the baby is so helpless, we want him to have a life as dignified as possible,” he stressed.
The Baratillo de Adevida, which is in its fifteenth edition, “in this privileged place which gives Guzman El Bueno Brigade”, is one of the main ways that Adevida obtains money to be able to help those in need. It can be visited from Wednesday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday the 17th will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Artisanal objects are offered, made by the same people who are part of the association and who guarantee its functioning, in addition to numerous foods, from oil to cured meats and Iberian products of the Pedroches Valleyor Christmas candy, always offered by institutions or companies.
