“We want strong and close ties with Afghanistan.” This statement was made today, November 1, by the Maldivian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohamed Toha, during a meeting with the Acting Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Islamabad, Sardar Ahmad Shakib.
The meeting discussed relations between the two “brotherly Muslim countries”, trade relations between the Maldives and Central Asian countries through Afghanistan and related issues.
Sardar Ahmad Shakib said that Afghanistan strives to maintain constructive relations with all countries and its policies are economically oriented. In particular, the emirate’s government would like to transform Afghanistan into a regional hub connecting several countries in the region.
