“We think we’re at the best of our careers and we felt like it now. “We didn’t want to continue, as they say, dragging ourselves to the stages.” With these words he explained Manuel Martinezthe singer of the Cordovan rock group Medina Azahara, the reasons why he ended his career. One last visit will serve to say goodbye.
This farewell comes after 45 years of career and 32 albumsThe group’s studio and, although Martínez assured that it was not an idea that the group had grown up with, it was brought up a few months ago.
“We never thought about retiring. It’s an idea that was born a few months ago and that we kept secret, but not for nothing, but because we wanted to announce the news to everyone. But hey, the legacy that the group leaves is one legacy big, with so many studio albums and some other live ones, lots of songs and lots of the fans who follow us all over the world and to whom we will always be grateful,” added the singer.
Thus, Martínez assured that they feel like “the last link of Andalusian rock”, while hoping that other artists will continue to make music “from the roots of Andalusia”.
“This music industry It happens in moments, it changes according to the results. We’ve been a hard-working band over this time, we’ve played a lot of shows and we’ve recorded 22 or 23 studio albums. The industry gave us what we needed when we needed it. And sometimes, when the industry didn’t give it to us, we invented it to do it ourselves,” he concluded.
The band’s tour will begin in Salamanca in January 2025 and will continue until December 13 in Cartagena. “It will be a tour designed for all our fans, for all the people who follow us, where we will play songs from all the albums we have. We are going to review our discography and I hope it will be fun and that when it comes time to go on stage, we will be able to share with them this joy that they are sure to have,” explained the group.
