West Azerbaijan Chronicle: “The biggest genocide against Azerbaijanis was committed in Zangibasar”

Today the next program was aired within the framework of the West Azerbaijan Chronicle project.

Journalist Rufik Ismayilov was interviewed by deputy Ilham Mammadov.

He spoke about his ancestral land, Zangibasar district. He said he has childhood memories of this charming corner of Western Azerbaijan. He noted that his grandparents and other relatives moved from Zangibasar and Uchkilsa districts, including Ulukhanli settlement, from Ranjbar village during the first deportation at the beginning of the last century and settled in Yevlakh, mainly in Samadabad village. He said that Armenians committed the biggest genocide against Azerbaijanis in Zangibasar at that time. The deputy said that our compatriots, who were forced to leave their homes and were subjected to massacres, after a few years returned to our historical lands and ancient homelands. Unfortunately, during the deportation of 1948-1953 they were forced to once again leave their homes and hearths and lived a life of displacement.

Deputy I. Mammadov recalled that historically our compatriots lived in Western Azerbaijan. He noted that during the Khanate of Iran, only 62 of 1,111 villages were inhabited by non-Armenians. He stressed that in the period 1828-1920 in Western Azerbaijan only the names of three villages were changed. He said that during the period of Soviet Armenia genocide was committed against our place names at the state level and place names belonging to Azerbaijanis were massively changed.

Speaking about the 1988 deportation, deputy I. Mammadov said that at that time there was no leader who would defend Azerbaijanis, raise their problem with the leadership of the USSR and show determination. Therefore, Azerbaijanis suffered great economic and moral damage and were forcibly expelled from their home villages.

I. Mammadov, representative of Yevlakh voters in Milli Mejlis, said that the residents of the Iravanli settlement of this region are our compatriots who were deported from various settlements in West Azerbaijan. He recalled meeting with those residents often. He said West Azerbaijanis want to return to their ancestral lands.

It should be remembered that the goal of the Western Azerbaijan Chronicle project is to preserve and promote the name of our historical lands, as well as the deportation of Azerbaijanis by Armenians, the toponyms that existed in those territories, but their names have been erased. , countless examples of underground and surface material culture: ancient settlements, necropolis, tumuli, remains of a castle, palace and fortification, caravanserai, bridges, funerary chests, stone crosses, statues of horses and rams, temples, churches, mosques, pyres . and homes are revealed, and facts confirming that the area is a pure Oghuz-Turk settlement are brought to the world community.

Also the president Ilham Aliyev Regarding West Azerbaijan, he said: “The map of the beginning of the 20th century shows once again that West Azerbaijan is the historical land of Azerbaijan, the names of cities and towns are of Azerbaijani origin, and we know very well that Azerbaijanis In the people have lived on the territory of present-day Armenia throughout history. Now the main task is for the world community to also know it”, – in his opinion, it is about promoting the duties that arise from the Concept of Return developed by him. the Community of West Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, it aims to illuminate the thoughts of historians and researchers about Western Azerbaijan and the life history of the people who were deported.
