West Azerbaijan Chronicle: “Three villagers tragically died on the road in June 1988”

Today, the next edition of the “Life Story” program by journalist Asgar Ibrahimov was prepared on Baku TV as part of the Chronicle of Western Azerbaijan project.

The program “Every day they announce that there will be an attack on the village with countless cars” is dedicated to the life story of Valeh Novruzov, a resident of the village of Akhundov, Akhta district, Derachichek district.

She talked about the days she spent in the village and said that the Derachichek district was a place full of flowers. Summer was also beautiful, autumn was also beautiful, winter was also beautiful, summer was also beautiful. We spent our carefree childhood years there very well.

According to him, Azerbaijanis lived in Western Azerbaijan, including in the Derachichek district: “Our grandfathers and fathers always talked about what was done to them in 1915. The dead die, and the rest go to Turkey and Kars. In 1921, the Soviet government was founded in Armenia and they returned to the Derachichek district again in 1948-1953 as a result of the agreement between Stalin and Mikoyan, they moved the population of Western Azerbaijan, including the Derachichek district, to Saatli and Sabirabad districts. After Stalin’s death, they returned to the Derachichek district and lived there. Finally, in 1988, it reached its climax and the final deportation occurred.”

V. Novruzov said that he witnessed the Armenian character and the invisible hostility of the Hays towards the Azerbaijanis: “They were a very dark, Dashnak and violent nation. They did not give work to Azerbaijanis there. In February 1988, Armenians beat Azerbaijanis working at the Razdan machine-building plant. It was impossible to get to the region. A big demonstration took place in our village. We demanded that our safety be guaranteed. The next day about 15 people came to the village with automatic weapons; it was possible that in the summer of 1988 people left.

In the end, she spoke about her longing for her homeland: “We have been coming from Western Azerbaijan for 36 years. I see it in my dreams. After our lands were liberated from occupation due to the “iron fist”, we had a spark of hope to return to Western Azerbaijan. My dream is to go there and see the graves of our grandparents. The spirits are calling us. Hopefully, I will go and see the green meadows, majestic mountains and springs that I walked along in my childhood.”

It should be recalled that the aim of the Chronicle of Western Azerbaijan project is to preserve and popularize the name of our historical and ancient lands, as well as the deportation of Azerbaijanis by Armenians, toponyms that existed in those territories, but their names have been erased, countless examples of underground and surface material culture are revealed: ancient settlements, necropolises, mounds, remains of castles, palaces and fortifications, caravansaries, bridges, burial chests, tombstones, statues of horses and rams, temples, churches, mosques, pyres and hearths, and facts confirming that the area is a pure Oghuz-Turk settlement are brought to the attention of the world community.

Also the president Ilham Aliyev Regarding Western Azerbaijan, he said: “The map of the beginning of the 20th century once again shows that Western Azerbaijan is the historical land of Azerbaijan, the names of cities and villages are of Azerbaijani origin and we know very well that Azerbaijani people have lived on the territory of present-day Armenia throughout history. Now the main task is to “make it known to the world community”, it is the promotion of the duties arising from the Concept of Return developed by the Western Azerbaijani Community according to its opinion.

It also aims to enlighten the thoughts of historians and researchers about West Azerbaijan and the life stories of people who were deported.
