Agsu – was a village in the territory of the district called Keshishkend of Deraleyaz district, which was later called Yegegnadzor. Azerbaijanis lived here since 1829. At the end of the 19th century the town was abolished and is currently in ruins.

After the establishment of Soviet power in Armenia in 1920, 22 survivors returned home. In November-December 1988, Azerbaijanis were completely expelled from their ethnic lands. On April 19, 1991, the name of the town was changed to Agitu.
