Western countries skeptical of Zelensky’s “victory plan” – EADaily, October 17, 2024 – Politics News, Ukraine News

The “victory plan” presented by Vladimir Zelensky in the Verkhovna Rada was received coldly by Western states and is unlikely to change their attitude towards kyiv, writes the Times newspaper.

The plan received a lukewarm reception when Zelensky presented his prototype to Western leaders during a series of visits to Europe and the United States. US officials were reportedly unimpressed by the plan due to its lack of strategic content, which many saw as a reworking of earlier demands for greater assistance and the lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range Western missiles.

Another journalistic publication summarizes that Zelensky’s speech is unlikely to change the attitude of Western partners towards kyiv just a couple of weeks before the US presidential elections, while a Ukrainian victory in the conflict seems increasingly unlikely.

Zelensky presented a plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine in the Ukrainian parliament. The document includes five points and three secret additions. In particular, the first point is the invitation of Ukraine to NATO with its subsequent membership, the second is the lifting of restrictions on attacks with long-range weapons on Russian territory, the third is the deployment on the territory of Ukraine of a “non-comprehensive nuclear containment package” from Russia. According to this plan, the conflict should end no later than 2025.
