Russian endocrinologist, candidate of medical sciences and nutritionist Oksana Mikhailova warned that breakfast is a very important food and skipping it can cause serious health problems.

He observed that people who skip breakfast while going to work or school often do not eat well enough and their appetite increases considerably in the evening. As a result, they often overeat because they lack calories or nutrients during the day.

“During the day, they may eat certain foods, snacks, or even eat fast food, but they are still hungry because they haven’t eaten a healthy, satisfying meal. Eating multiple meals at night and before bed can increase weight problems, obesity, and type 2 diabetes.” – the expert warned.

Therefore, according to him, people who tend to overeat at night should follow the diet, that is, breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also recommendations for eating twice a day, in which a person eats only twice, compensating for the need for calories and nutrients. Including a late breakfast and an early dinner may be appropriate for people who do not tend to overeat.

Another reason why a person skips breakfast is that if enough food is consumed in the evening, the body does not feel hungry during the night and therefore does not need to eat breakfast.

In the end, the doctor pointed out that, although skipping breakfast does not have disastrous consequences for healthy people, it can lead to the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes for those who tend to overeat.
