What concerns did Britain have after the liquidation of Sinwar? – The Telegraph

Britain expresses concern about the possible consequences of the liquidation of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, fearing the strengthening of Islamist terrorism.

According to The Telegraph, former MI6 chief John Sawyers said the event could increase the threat to Western countries, including the UK.

Sawyers believes that Sinwar’s successors could escalate the violence by redirecting their efforts toward Western states. He noted that the frustration building in Arab countries due to the lack of progress on the Palestinian issue and daily acts of violence could contribute to the growth of the Islamist threat.

The former MI6 chief also expressed fears that the new leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah could return to the practice of international terrorism, which endangers Britain’s security. In this sense, he called on British law enforcement and intelligence agencies to reinforce precautions and remain constantly alert to possible threats.
