“What If?” is the very first animated series that has been created by Marvel Studios set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, it makes full use of the setting and the multiverse created by the events of “Loki.” The animated series has been created by A.C. Bradley and it reimagines several events from the normal chronology, bringing the fans engaging stories involving some of their favorite Marvel Comics characters in surprising ways through alternate universes.
The 5th episode of the show features a zombie-infested version of “Avengers: Infinity War,” and its emotional ramifications have left many saddened. The episode finishes on a major cliffhanger, similar to the above-mentioned film, leaving a few doubts in fans’ minds unsolved.
Ending of What if Episode 5 Explained
The 5th episode concludes with an especially tense catastrophe with a zombified Wanda Maximoff, who has been shielded by Vision. After this particularly terrible encounter, however, Vision recognizes that he should be rescuing humanity and thus, he pulls the Mind Stone out that is placed in his head, that later allows Scott Lang’s head, Peter Parker, Doctor Strange’s cape, and T’Challa, to discover a remedy for the problem.

The few people who were able to survive later fly to Wakanda so they can employ high-tech devices which can create a cure for the zombie virus by utilizing a signal that is emitted by the Mind Stone. However, before the day ends, a new threat emerges as Wakanda gets surrounded by another zombie troop, with a zombified Thanos who is leading the troop.
Apart from that, Thanos, the zombie has 5 of the 6 Infinity Stones and just needs the Mind Stone to complete his collection of stones. The Mad Titan appears to still want to utilize the Infinity Gauntlet and has his sights set on the Mind Stone. However, because he’s a zombie, it’s unknown whether his goals to annihilate half of humanity have deviated.
And, given the cliffhanger ending of the 5th episode, it appears probable that the zombie plot will be picked up at some time, but whether it will be shown in the 1st season’s impending crossover or even the 2nd season remains unknown.
