Following recent events in northern Syria, fears have grown within the Israeli security system that unconventional weapons could end up in the hands of jihadist groups fighting Assad’s troops in the vicinity of Aleppo.
“Aleksey Zheleznov Channel” writes about this.
Currently these organizations are only 20 km from the largest chemical complex in this region. The issue was the subject of an urgent security debate convened by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. We are talking about chemical weapons.
As previously reported, during Operation Northern Arrows several months ago, the IDF discovered hidden caches of gas masks and chemicals in Lebanon. This discovery was a wake-up call indicating the potential threat of the use of chemical agents by terrorist groups in the region.
Previously “Cursor” wrote that the Sunni militias, which began the offensive on November 27, managed to partially occupy the western regions of Aleppo, Syria’s second largest city, in three days. In response, Bashar al-Assad’s troops and his Russian allies withdrew virtually without resistance, leaving behind important strategic territories.
Currently, intense fighting continues in Aleppo and its surroundings, during which artillery is actively used. The Russian Air Force also carried out 23 airstrikes against positions of opposition forces.
In addition, Kursor already reported that the operation in Syria allowed the militants to significantly strengthen their positions in the region. A representative of the HTS group noted that this is only the first stage, and in the future it is planned to clear the territory of mines, as well as return to it residents who were forced to leave their homes during the fighting.
