Former Vice Chairman of the US Army General Staff, General Jack Kean, expressed the view that the West faces the greatest threat since World War II.
This was reported by The Times.
General Kean, one of Washington’s most powerful military officials who advises many high-profile figures including Donald Trump, said the West faces a danger not seen since World War II. During his career, Keene was chosen by Trump to be Secretary of Defense after winning the 2016 election, but declined because he lost his wife at the time.
His warning came amid recent statements by Vladimir Putin about the possible use of nuclear weapons in the event of a threat to Russia, including countries that support Ukraine.
“The new Beijing-Moscow-Pyongyang axis represents the most serious and dangerous challenge to the West since World War II. What has happened is that these countries have perceived the United States as a weak rival. We have lost the political will to confront it. This danger will need to be eliminated as quickly as possible and must begin as soon as Trump takes office in January. Nowhere is this axis more evident than in Russia’s war against Ukraine. “The North Korean soldiers joined the Russians,” Keen said.
In light of recent developments, including Ukraine’s launch of the US Atacms missile and the British Storm Shadow cruise missile against Russia, as well as the retaliatory launch of a Russian experimental medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile against Ukraine, the General Jack Kean noted that global security was at a critical level and the risk of global conflict has increased significantly.
The military man expressed the opinion that Putin continues to accelerate the course of events without being interested in negotiations. According to him, although he supports the idea of negotiating with the Russian leader, he doubts that the Russian dictator is willing to talk, since his objectives include taking over all of Ukraine.
Keen also noted that Putin faces serious difficulties on the front, including high personnel casualties, which could reach between 30,000 and 57,000 people per month, as well as problems with military equipment.
“Now our army is the smallest since the Second World War, the Air Force is the smallest in the last 40 years and the Navy, which needs 360 ships, only has 90. When the USSR existed, we were prepared for conflict, but now? The war in Ukraine has become an important lesson. “We see that in the event of a prolonged war we will lack everything,” the general concluded.
Previously, Kursor wrote that after Donald Trump won the US presidential election, the Joe Biden administration directed its efforts to support Ukraine, including considering returning nuclear weapons to this country.
