What’s wrong with the losses of Ukraine and the Russian Federation? The expert evaluated the WSJ data

Military expert Yigal Levin has questioned the data presented in The Wall Street Journal, which, citing its sources, stated that the losses of the Ukrainian army amounted to 480 thousand people (including 80 thousand killed and 400 thousand wounded), while the Russian troops lost 600 thousand soldiers, of whom 200 thousand were killed and 400 thousand were wounded.

Yigal Levin wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

Levin pointed out the clear discrepancy between the number of dead and wounded, recalling that with bad medicine the ratio of losses should be about 1 to 3: for every dead there are three wounded. Consequently, for every 200 thousand dead in the Russian army there should be at least 600 thousand wounded, and not 400 thousand, as the article says.

He also noted that general estimates of casualty ratios in the war suggest that for Ukrainian troops the ratio is about 1 to 4-5, while for Russian troops it is 1 to 3. Levin suggested that the data could be distorted or misinterpreted. He noted that the WSJ may have relied on Western intelligence sources who may have provided incorrect estimates.

Despite possible errors in estimates, Levin stressed that the scale of this war is such that total losses on both sides, including killed, wounded, captured, missing and abandoned, could well exceed one million people.

Cursor previously reported whether there was an IDF operation in Syria.

Yigal Levin notes that such operations are not uncommon, but the details of many of them remain unknown to the general public.
