The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, described Israel’s decision to declare UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres persona non grata on Friday, October 4, as regrettable and alarming.
“Israel’s decision to declare United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres persona non grata is alarming and regrettable… WHO fully supports the Secretary-General and all United Nations colleagues in their mission to provide humanitarian assistance. to those who need it and resolve the numerous conflicts that affect the modern world,” — he wrote on his social network page X.
He asked to reverse the decision and reorient peace efforts.
October 2, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz declared Guterres persona non grata and banned him from entering the country. The minister’s statement read: “Anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attack on Israel does not deserve the right to set foot on Israeli soil.”
