The Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan continues to take comprehensive measures to ensure animal health and biological safety in the country and to prevent infectious animal diseases that may be transmitted from other countries.
Oku.Az Reports that the World Organization for Animal Health (WHO) confirmed the status of our country as free of highly pathogenic avian influenza, accepting the reliability of the mechanisms created to guarantee biological safety, and the relevant information was published on the official website of the organization.
It should be noted that in accordance with the progressive international practice of recent years, serious work is being done to confirm the sanitary status of our republic with respect to diseases that represent a threat to human and animal health, as well as a violation of biological safety. in the environment. In this context, the approval of the exemption status of highly pathogenic avian influenza can be considered as another success of the control and regulation system in this field, the protection of biological safety in our country. Thus, the approval of the disease-free status by the WHO will mean the elimination of one of the biggest obstacles to the export of poultry products from our country and the facilitation of the export of products related to the poultry sector.
It should be noted that highly pathogenic avian influenza is one of the zoonotic infections of viral origin, which is also dangerous for humans. Currently, there are active foci of the disease in more than 50 countries around the world. Thanks to regular epizootological surveillance in Azerbaijan, the immediate detection of dangerous situations and the adoption of appropriate measures to prevent the introduction of birds and poultry products that may be a source of particular danger, our country has been protected against this disease.
