Why Coldplay’s 2025 tour will only pass through London and one small, low-income working-class town

Coldplay returns to the European stage. The British band announced this Tuesday the eight dates they have prepared for Europe during the summer of 2025 and none of them will be on the continent. Just eight concerts that the band will see only in the United Kingdom: the capital, London and the small city of Hull.

“These will be the only European and UK cities the band will be performing in over the next year.” This is how the Chris Martin-led band announced their upcoming shows, which will take place in August at Craven Park Stadium in Hull and Wembley Stadium in London. Two dates in Hull (August 18 and 19) and six in London (August 22, 23, 26, 27, 30 and 31) have been announced just weeks before the release of their next album. Moon music, which will be released on October 4th.

The date set for the start of general sales is Friday, September 27 at 10:00 a.m. Spanish time, although, as announced, there will be exclusive tickets for fans who reserve their next album through the band’s official website.

The announcement of the European continuation of this supertour Music of the Spheres did not go unnoticed. The most surprising and bizarre news was the two dates the band booked in Hull, a small, low-income, working-class English city that did not expect to see a band of such magnitude in its 25,000-capacity stadium. According to British media The telegraphThe band reportedly wanted to play in a smaller venue than usual in the north of England. Added to this, according to the aforementioned media, is the insistence of the management of Craven Park Stadium, which finally managed to convince Coldplay to spend two nights at its premises.

To understand the magnitude of this event, the entire population of Hull could attend the six concerts that the group gave at Wembley on two occasions. A historic event that surprised the inhabitants of this city and that was defined by The telegraph as “the city that just pulled off the rock and roll coup of the year.”

Coldplay have also put mechanisms in place with ticket sellers to ensure that half of the tickets for both Hull dates are given to fans with postcodes in the area, ensuring locals do not miss out on this historic event in their home city.

For the concerts on this tour, the band has indicated that 10% of the profits will be donated to the Music Venue Trust, a charity that protects concert venues based in the United Kingdom. Similarly, the concerts held at Wembley Stadium will be produced and powered entirely by solar, wind and kinetic energy.

For the moment, Coldplay has not finished its 2024 tour. The group still has 11 dates scheduled until the end of the year, all in Australia and New Zealand. Melbourne, Sydney or Auckland will be the cities through which the group of hits like Live life, fix yourself or the clocks This will happen during the rest of the year.
