“I can say that for Compromís in general and for me in particular, Óscar Puente is the worst minister there is currently in the state government, not only because of the content of the policies he is developing, but also because of the way he is carrying out this policy. The Compromís deputy in Congress and deputy spokesperson for Sumar, Àgueda Micó, spoke forcefully this Monday morning in an interview with À Punt, when asked about the explanations of the Minister of Transport regarding the situation of high speed and Cercanías.
Micó cited as an example the minister’s visit to Valencia to announce the approval of the expansion works of the Port of Valencia with toasts included with the President of the Valencian Government, Carlos Mazón, and with the Mayor, María José Catalá: “I knew that it was a “very delicate issue in which there are environmental and judicial problems, which is here a very controversial work and which is a reason for confrontation with Compromís, who have been partners of the government in the Generalitat Valenciana and who are now giving them support within the State Government”, he lamented in reference to the forms of Puente.
The Valencian representative also criticized the fact that she now talks about “the expansions of the L’Altet and Manises airports without taking into account the problems of touristification and drought that we have” and rail transport in the Valencian Community, she commented: “That she comes to say that people who use rail transport do so with great pleasure is an insult to the intelligence of Valencians who have suffered for years from Cercanías that are not up to par. “So he should be more humble with the statements he makes, because what he is doing is irritating everyone and not providing real solutions to the problems of the railway infrastructure, which are essential and necessary to achieve an ecological transition.”
Asked about statements made during an interview at EMV Elevator in which she stated that “the autonomies have become entities that only ask for money from the Spanish government”, Micó was upset by these words, stating that “there are communities like Valencia that are governed by the PP and that do what they do” is demand better financing while lowering taxes for the richest, which is a hypocritical attitude, but obviously what I would say to Óscar Puente is that the State is all of us, the Valencians who pay taxes every day are the State, so the Government is not the only institution of the State, the autonomies too.
Micó recalled that “the Constitution itself establishes that we are the autonomous communities that hold the fundamental powers of the welfare state, such as health, education or social services, therefore, what Óscar Puente should do is keep quiet and grant more equitable funding to the state institutions that develop the most important skills in people’s daily lives.
Regarding the support that Compromís gives to the government despite all these situations, Sumar’s deputy spokesman affirmed that there is “a pact of the government with the PSOE that establishes that there will be a new financing system and that the government has the obligation to comply with it.” agreement; if you don’t do it, you will no longer have the support of Compromís. This is something that should have already happened in the 2024 budgets and now we have the possibility of providing compensation in the 2025 budgets.”
In this sense, he made the approval of the compensation mechanism until there is a new financing system a condition for the approval of the general budgets: “Compromís demands compensation for this underfinancing and every year we are talking about between 1,200 and 1,300 million euros more in the State accounts.”
