Scientists have revealed four reasons why some people have nightmares.
Oku.Az “Daily Mail” reported on this.
Some of the reasons mentioned are medical and others psychological.
“A third of people in the UK and almost half of Americans say they believe in ghosts, spirits and other paranormal activity. According to surveys, one in five people say they actually have a ghost, and one in every 10 say they have had direct contact with the dead,” the newspaper writes.
One of the reasons people have nightmares is sleep paralysis. At this time, a person suddenly wakes up in the REM (rapid eye movement) phase of sleep, unable to move or speak.
It is noted that some patients with sleep paralysis report a feeling of pressure in the chest and may see hallucinations, including frightening figures. Modern science cannot explain why this happens, but it is known to be more common in people suffering from insomnia, PTSD, and anxiety.
Another cause of nightmares can be carbon monoxide poisoning, which causes headaches, confusion, dizziness, and nausea, including nightmarish hallucinations.
Scientists believe that another cause of nightmares is certain abnormalities in the brain: epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and others.
The fourth reason why a person has nightmares may be the feeling of pain after the loss of a loved one.
People get so used to each other that after death they feel the presence of their loved one, hear their voice, and some see an image.
“On the other hand, there may be no solid scientific evidence for the existence of life after death, but that does not rule it out completely,” concludes the Daily Mail.
