Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking to regain control of the Kursk region to “freeze” military action until new US President Donald Trump takes office. This opinion was expressed by military expert, instructor pilot and reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan in a commentary for Channel 24.
According to him, Russian troops have intensified their attacks in the Kursk region, but have not yet managed to dislodge the Ukrainian forces. At the same time, the losses of the Russian Federation reached record levels. Svitan noted that Putin hopes to take advantage of Trump’s rise to power to establish a temporary truce, considering the presence of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region unacceptable in the event of a “freeze” of the conflict.
The expert also stressed that the Ukrainian forces are successfully taking advantage of the enemy’s intentions, destroying Russian soldiers during their desperate attacks. Thanks to weapons with a range of up to 40 kilometers, the Armed Forces of Ukraine manage to eliminate a significant part of the enemy even before the start of direct military confrontations. According to the General Staff, daily Russian losses reach up to 2,000 people, and a significant part of these losses occur in the Kursk direction.
Svitan expressed confidence that the Ukrainian army will continue to fight effectively against the enemy, despite its attempts to accelerate the implementation of its plans in the face of a possible change in the foreign policy situation.
