Why Russia is in no hurry to regain the Kursk region: analysts’ assessment

Currently, Russia is not prepared to take active measures to regain control of the Kursk region due to serious organizational and logistical problems.

As Politico reports, citing anonymous Pentagon sources, the Russian military faces challenges that prevent it from effectively redeploying forces for offensive operations.

Initially, Western allies feared that the formation of an offensive group of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk region would lead to a weakening of kyiv’s positions in other sectors of the front. However, according to analysts, Ukraine has enough resources to hold the occupied territories for at least several months. This could be a critical moment for the Russian military, which continues to face a lack of coordination and planning that only exacerbates its logistical problems.

Politico also notes that in the near future there are no signs that Russia is willing to carry out serious operations to return the Kursk region. The region is likely to remain under Ukrainian control indefinitely until Russian forces can overcome existing difficulties.

British intelligence adds that September 2024 was one of the bloodiest for the Russian army. According to them, the average losses in the Russian army were about 1,271 people per day, which indicates the continued exhaustion of the Russian forces at the front.

Previously Kursor reported that the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region will be the key to victory over the Russian Federation.

The successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region offer Kyiv serious prospects.
