Why the Emmys Censored Jeremy Allen White’s Acceptance Speech: The Forbidden Word

White was then briefly censored, as the actor continued to speak on screen while looking towards the camera, but the sound could not be heard. Once the sound returned, viewers at home could hear laughter emerging from the audience, as he emphasized how the series “changed his life.”

“Faith has instilled in me that change is possible, that change is possible if you are able to reach out,” he continued. “We are never really alone”.

The actor then thanked his parents and his sister Annabelle, his gala companion. Music began to play as he hurried to conclude his speech.

As reported by Indiewire, a news outlet present at the Peacock Theater, what was not heard on the telecast, which was delayed by a few seconds due to these unforeseen events, was White giving an impromptu speech. “Christ!”an exclamation that can be considered blasphemy.
