But their beautiful fur, their tasty meat and the secretion of the fragrance of the “Bir -inch”, which was considered a wonderful medicine, were doomed to them: they were merciless. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the rodent was almost disappeared, only on the Middle Elbe in Saxony-Anhalt, they survived a small phenomenon.

Thanks to protection and relocation projects, beavers can be found in many original areas of distribution, several hundred animals should live only in Lower Saxony. In the area, Gettingen exaggerate calculated and outlined about 25 regions. They are mainly from the river or streams. Two beavers settled in the Wenddebach reservoir last fall. The exaggeration, which for a long time worked on the Office for the Protection of the Nature of the District, shot and photographed its wild cameras.

Beaver slide reveals the region

On the other hand, twilight and night beavers usually do not see pedestrians. During the day, animals squat in their design, the entrances are under water and cannot be visible. Nevertheless, there are additional evidence of the territory on the bank of the Turnbach embankment – the so -called Bobr Slide. “Beavers slide into the water on the stomach and form a distinctive slide,” says exaggeration.

On the contrary, other characteristics of beaver dams are rare in the southern part of Saxony, the expert adds. These dams serve as animals to defrost the water: only if the entrances for their construction in a hot summer threaten to dry out, beavers build a dam. In the Gettingen area, according to Preuschhof, this is hardly necessary.

Two beavers come to eat in the mouth of Wendebach. They especially like pasture bark. It contains an exaggeration, including salicylic acid, which accumulates in fabric with beaver. Acetylsalicylic acid, also known as the ass or aspirin, is also widely used by medical active ingredient. However, this is done synthetically for people.

In addition to the cortex, the beavers eat wild offenses, such as Cranes and balls as a 100 % vegetarian. Cultural plants, such as corn, rapeseed, beets and grain, are also in their menu. Bobra also blow and grind their renewable teeth on the trees.

There is a quiet grunt among farmers

If the return is still strictly protected – the beaver was marked everywhere as a great success to protect views, now a noticeable grunt. In particular, farmers complain that areas are placed under water and that trees are in grain or rapeseed fields. “The protection of the beaver should not go at the expense of agriculture,” says Hubertus Berges from the board of directors of Lower Saxony Country Pupe.

“Bibris are great defenders of nature,” says Biologist Podshkhof. Due to their hard construction activities and the setting of streams, they hold a variety of habitats, such as small water, dead wood and wet meadows, in which dragon, amphibians and reptiles, fish and birds feel comfortable. Where people should spend a lot of money and energy on the preservation of biodiversity, the beaver helps the zero tariff.
