Lawyers of businessman Vladislav Bakalchuk have confirmed his release, Kommersant reports.
Bakalchuk faced life imprisonment. Investigators from the Main Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Moscow charged the businessman with murder, attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and arbitrariness.
The case was subsequently transferred to the central office of the Investigative Committee, and investigators from there turned to the Basmanny Court of the capital with requests for the arrest of those involved in the case of the shooting at the Wildberries office in the Romanov Dvor business center.
“However, Mr. Bakalchuk himself was never brought to court. According to representatives of the businessman, investigators from the central office of the Investigative Committee did not find any wrongdoing in his actions. In order to obtain an explanation of why this happened, they recommended contacting the Investigative Committee. There Kommersant was unable to quickly obtain comments. At the same time, other Kommersant sources in law enforcement agencies believe that “the issue concerning Bakalchuk is not yet completely closed and operational investigative measures in relation to him are continuing.” – Kommersant writes.
Bokalchuk himself said he was at home and in shock.
“On September 18, my team and I were victims of a cynical provocation and attack by unknown armed individuals at the office of my company Wildberries,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
He expressed confidence that “the authorities will resolve what happened.”
